There won’t be a CaffiNation Podcast done for Halloween for the first time in several years. But I still wanted to share a bit of spooky fun with the rest of the world. Herein is a spooky awesome Halloween treat for all you ghosts, goblins and ghouls.

One of my favorite spooky stories of all time is The  Cremation  of Sam McGee, by Robert W. Service. I was introduced to the poem by my former Scout Master, Mr Chuck Benshetler. I loved the way he told the story, the inflection he used and there is just something about hearing ghost stories around the campfire that brings the imagination to life.

So as you listen to this poem, close your eyes… Imagine sitting on a cold night, blanket huddled close around your shoulders. The front of you is warm and cozy but your back is facing the cold night. Where every slight breeze brought a little chill down your neck. In front of you the dieing embers of a once great campfire are slowly loosing their light and the heat is dimming just a bit. You can feel the icy fingers of the night air reclaiming their territory on the front of your body.

Before you stands a man regaling this tale, mostly standing in silhouette, he paces back and forth telling you this tale. I don’t know how many times as a boy i sat round a campfire just like this with the silhouette being Mr B. If i can share any little bit of  that  experience  with you, then I’m happy. Enjoy the poem. And if you end up liking it as much as I do you can always snag a copy for yourself.

Thank you for Listening, and Have a Happy and Safe All Hallows Eve.
